Starting off our January 2017 wedding season with snow and ice covered roads was definitely different, but nothing was going to dampen the wedding day of Courtney and Wesley at The Barn At Shady Lane. The morning of the wedding we received a text from Wesley, making sure we’d be able to make the wedding day due to the slippery road conditions. The funny part was, the Rush Videos staff had left early to ensure we were able to make the travel. So, after calling the groom to let him know we’d already arrived at the venue, this was the positive start they needed to know their wedding day would still go on.
As we unloaded equipment and set up inside the venue, we saw Martha McIntosh setting up florals. With several vendors getting there early, we felt not only would the day be perfect but special for Courtney and Wesley. Christian with Pen And Pastry did a beautiful brides cake, which Courtney just loved.
As Wesley and his groomsmen arrived, we couldn’t help but notice,”Chief”, their labrador retriever at all times felt he was part of the wedding day. In the spirit of everything going on, we were sure we caught Chief giving Wesley a high five. Maybe that was his way of giving his stamp of approval, since Chief is Courtney’s little man.
Courtney and her girls arrived to get ready, we captured some great and fun moments. Most brides to be are nervous on their wedding day, but Courtney was so calm and excited to get married. Everyone in the bridal loft was enjoying the day and the girls even enjoyed a sneak peak of Courtney in her dress.
Prior to the wedding, Courtney and Wesley had decided to see one another, and read special prepared letters they had written. Although some may feel it’s not tradition to see each other before the wedding, we feel that it not only calms nerves but also helps get photography done.
Once pictures were over, Courtney and Wesley headed back inside, as guests began to arrive. As friends and family took their seats, Wesley and Pastor Keyes took their place at the alter. Susie from Susie The Wedding Fiddler played her violin and everyone stood to their feet as Courtney made her way down the aisle. The pastor gave a short prayer and the,”I Do’s” were read, Wesley & Courtney were pronounced husband and wife.
A cocktail hour started following the wedding, as the band, Teenage Daddy played. As the reception started, guests enjoyed buffet style food by Byron Rickard Catering. Wesley and Courtney shared their first dance as husband and wife, followed by the father -daughter dance, then the mother-son dance. Once the band started gearing up, everyone was ready to dance and celebrate Wesley and Courtney’s wedding. With everyone on the dance floor and the music jumping, we just knew this would be a fun reception. As the night went on, the time had come to do the garter and bouquet toss. Traditionally, it’s believed who ever catches these items is the next to marry. Guess we’ll have to keep tabs on that one. With family and friends lined up outside, sparklers were lit and Wesley and Courtney made their grand exit. Halfway through the tunnel of sparklers, Wesley stopped to give Courtney a kiss, and everyone loved it.
Congratulations Courtney and Wesley! Thank you for allowing Rush Videos to be a part of your wedding day at The Barn At Shady Lane. May God bless you both as you begin your new life together.
