As the Birmingham area prepared for some much needed rain showers over the weekend, there was just enough time to fit in a rain-free game of football on an overcast but mostly dry night under the lights in Birmingham, Alabama.
John Carroll hoping to rebound from last week’s road trip to Talladega hosted the Sylacauga Aggies. Luckily, this Aggie team does not have a quarterback with the nickname “Johnny Football” but nonetheless the Aggies did their best Texas A&M impression and jumped out to a lightning fast start. By the end of the first half the Cavaliers were trailing 21-0.
To start the second half, the Cavalier defense stiffened and the Aggies had trouble moving the football and converting third downs. Likewise, the Cavalier offense found some life and managed to find the endzone twice to stay within striking distance. In the end, the Sylacauga Aggies managed to put the game out of reach with a couple of late scores and took the win with a final score of 35-14.
