Birmingham Alabama Wedding | Tracy + Chris
As the summer wedding season winds down over the next few weeks, it’s nice to reflect on just how good 2014 has been to Rush Videos. It has been one of our most successful years ever as we’ve made a lot of great memories and met many wonderful people. This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of covering the Birmingham Alabama wedding of Tracy and Chris at Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
Upon our arrival, the florist was placing the final touches on the main floral centerpiece that would be prominently displayed on stage for the ceremony. We quickly unloaded our gear and one of the friendliest wedding coordinators we have ever worked with, Jeanie, introduced herself to us. She answered all our questions regarding the day’s timeline of events with ease. Within minutes, we knew where everyone would be standing, where the pastor and groom would enter the sanctuary, how the wedding party would enter, got to see the lighting configuration for the ceremony, and she even volunteered to run a camera for us. Just kidding on the camera part, but you get the idea. Jeanie made our jobs much easier than we’re accustomed to and in the end that will help make the wedding film we create for Tracy and Chris that much better.
We spent some time separately with the bride and groom to capture each of them getting ready. As soon as the final touches were complete, we quickly setup in the sanctuary for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time that day. After the “pre-meet”, the photographer, Breanna Fogg, and her assistant, Amy, had several great spots selected for the bride and groom’s pictures. The church had several outdoor spaces in the courtyard that served as beautiful backdrops of greenery, brick, and stone. The entire wedding party was brought outside and all of the pictures and video were quickly wrapped up allowing everyone some down time before the ceremony commenced at 6 o’clock that evening.

The sanctuary quickly filled with guests. The family was seated as the organist began playing “Canon in D”. After escorting his mother to her seat, Chris returned to the side entrance for a few moments until he and the officiant, Rev. Robert Mercer, made their way to the front of the sanctuary. The wedding party entered into the sanctuary in pairs as “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” was performed. As the last members of the wedding party began their march, the back doors to the sanctuary were shut in anticipation of the bride. “Trumpant Volutary” began playing as everyone stood to their feet and looked on as Tracy was escorted down the aisle by her father, Robert. The ceremony was traditional with scripture readings, prayers, and the exchanging of vows and rings and ended as Tracy and Chris were pronounced “husband and wife”. They stopped briefly about halfway down the aisle and gave each other a resounding high-five, which is going to make for some great impromptu pictures.
The wedding reception was held at Inverness Country Club just off Highway 280 in Birmingham. For those of you that may not have been to the Inverness Country Club recently, it was completely renovated a few years ago after a fire and now has a more modern look. There is an amazing water feature that catches your attention upon entering and served as the perfect backdrop for the groom’s cake table. The Rush Videos crew quickly set up and began taking video of the bride and groom cakes, as well as, the food and decorations. Guests were lining up and making their way through the buffet line to fill their plates with a variety of food options.

The entire wedding party was introduced by DJ K.O.P. with the bride and groom being introduced last. Tracy and Chris then held their first dance together as a married couple. Tracy’s sweet father, Robert, put his own spin on the father-daughter dance. He brought a chair out and had Tracy sit as he serenaded her prior to their dance. The bride and groom then took some time to walk around and greet all of the guests and take pictures. After the cake cutting, the dance floor quickly filled as DJ K.O.P. selected many dance favorites, including “The Cupid Shuffle”, to get the crowd on their feet. To end the inside festivities, everyone gathered around the dance floor to watch the single ladies and gentlemen participate in the garter and bouquet tosses. Lastly, everyone lined up outside the Inverness Country Club entrance with sparklers as Chris and Tracy made their way out of the building and into their vehicle. It was a beautiful Birmingham Alabama wedding night!
Congratulations Tracy and Chris! Thank you for allowing Rush Videos to be a part of your Birmingham Alabama wedding!
